TRAININGS:

New Generation Employees: Identification of Differences, Challenges and Changes in Adult Learning: (4 hrs.)
This training is designed for all law enforcement personnel who work with or supervise today’s generation of trainees. Currently, agencies have offered this training to academy staff, field training officers, Sergeants and other command staff. The training outline is as follows:

  • identification of generational differences,

  • theories behind generation differences,

  • identification of how these differences create challenges for law enforcement agencies,

  • discusses various ways to assess the exact nature of identified problem areas with trainees,

  • provides an overview of the psychology of adult learning and successful training approaches, and

  • trains on peak performance, advanced stress management, process vs. outcome thinking, memory and learning, as well as mental flexibility.

Learning in High Stress Environments: (4 hrs.)

This training was designed for trainees at the academy or field training levels. It serves to compliment the New Generation Employees training that supervisory staff receives. This training helps prepare trainees for the challenges of training and learning in a high stress environment. The training outline is as follows:

  • peak performance,

  • advanced stress management,

  • process vs. outcome thinking,

  • multitasking,

  • testing,

  • anxiety reduction,

  • learning and memory, as well as other strategies for

  • report writing,

  • communication and

  • social skills.

Departments are also encouraged to use Nicoletti-Flater Associates “Advanced Training Skills” program to help enhance trainee performance through sports psychology services. This program allows trainees, in all phases of training, as well as trainers to contact our offices with specific questions, concerns, and/or areas of difficulty, and have them addressed by one of our Advanced Training Skills clinicians. Contact us if your Department is interested in contracting for these services.

Departments currently using the aforementioned training programs: Denver Police Department, Aurora Police Department, Arvada Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office
